Last night Magnusson’s Marauders were born! Or summoned, which ever you prefer. Yes, my Chaos Blood Bowl team is finally complete!
I’m not too keen on the models that Games Workshop currently stock for this team as they are pretty old now, so I decided to build my own out of various Warhammer Fantasy kits.
The team is ready to play with now, although I may have to make a couple more marauders for reserve players. When I do, I’ll try to remember to do a step by step painting post for the blog.
I don’t think I actually did many (if any) test schemes for this. If I remember correctly I chose the colours and just jumped straight in. The purple is Hormagaunt Purple (which doesn’t exist anymore) and the gold-ish colour is Brass Balls from the P3 range. I love it because its such an odd colour compared to the metallics I normally use.
If you are wondering at all, the bases are numbered for rules purposes as each player is an individual and can pick up stat increases or new skills.
Name: Yngvar The Twisted.
This is the big guy for the team. I made a couple of similar models to use as unit fillers in my Chaos Warriors WFB army and thought it would fit the overall feel of the team. Simply made of a spawn kit with a marauder’s head and I had to do a little bit of “Green Stuff-ing” around the neck.
He usually stands on larger base, but I knew I could squeeze him on a 25mm base just for gaming convenience. This however left him with his leg raised, and from this I envisioned him stamping on some poor unfortunate that foolishly got in his way.
Names from left to right: Kjartan, Giermund, Eldgrim, Ornolf.
Made from the normal WFB Chaos Warrior kit, with the weapons chopped off. Not much more to say about these other than the fact that I really like how the black wash has effected the Brass Balls armour.
While I was painting them I think I decided that number 4 was going to be my captain due to the silver rune hung around his neck.
Names from left to right: Front Row: Steinbjorn, Steingrim, Haklang. Back Row: Asvald, Erlend, Kjartan, Rognvald.
As I decided to theme my team a bit more, having no Beastmen or minotaur models in my team, so I am using marauders in the Beastmen’s place. Normally, in my Chaos Warrior WFB army I take the horns off the marauders helmets just because I think they look better without them, but B have a special rule called “Horns” which gives them a strength bonus when they blitz, so I figured leaving on would make more sense.
So there’s the team. In the future I hope to build a dugout and possibly even buy a custom-made pitch for these guys. I hope they perform well in their future games! I definitely hope they don’t suffer like the Chaos team I used on my PC version of Blood Bowl. Their first game ever, before a single player had even moved, and just as the ball was kicked off, an angry spectator decided to throw a rock at my Minotaur and killed the poor beast outright!
That’s why I love this game!
